#RoyalChallenge Day 4

Fun card yesterday, somber card today. Day 4, and I needed to make a card for my uncle and his family. My aunty passed away, but since the card is going to my uncle and his two sons I wanted to make the card masculine, something I struggle with.

Had to enbiggen (a Julie Ebersole term, love her!) this card since the pieces I inlaid are so small I wanted to make sure you could see every little piece, lol! Call me crazy, but I do love the challenge of making cards like this. Not sure I'm happy with the sentiment on this card, but couldn't find a more Times New Roman-like font in the Stampin' Up! kits I have that are current. I do like the accent pieces I used from the leftover black medallion.

Stampin' Up! Eastern Medallions
Stampin' Up! Soft Suede cardstock
Stampin' Up! Crushed Curry cardstock
Stampin' Up! Old Olive cardstock
Stampin' Up! Flourishing Phrases (sentiment)

Thanks so much for stopping by.

  1. This is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS, Sheryl! So much time and skill went into making this so perfect. I'm sure it will be appreciated by your uncle and his sons. Thanks for sharing!

  2. Lovely card; sorry for your loss. Wondering whether you used the Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets for adhering, or the fine tip glue. Bonnie W

    1. Hi Bonnie,
I prefer Scor-Tape for inlaid designs. I buy the wide roll and cut to size.

  4. For sure; lots of work, but it is fabulous! So do you put the Scor-Tape all over the back of the "outline/frame" and then carefully put in the contrasting pieces, which become stuck to the Scor-Tape behind?

    1. If the circle was inlaid I would put the tape behind the circle and lay the frame circle piece and the pieces in on the tape. Because this circle is popped up, I cut out a backing circle as well as a circle out of the Scor-Tape and sandwiched the back circle, Scor-Tape circle, and the circle frame piece. Then place the pieces in. I hoard release paper. I love the sheets address labels come on (those free ones we always get) or some packing slips have a big piece of release paper. Hope that helps! Please let me know if you have any questions.

    2. Thanks, Sheryl. I think I understand...up until the release paper. What is the release paper used for in this application? I save EVERYTHING I think could be useful for my crafting!!! ~Luralyn

    3. Release paper is the coated sheet stickers and/or double-sided tape come on. I put the double-sided tape sandwiched between release paper so I can cut shapes (in this case a circle) in my Big Shot. I like the wide Scor-Tape rolls so I can cut to the size I need. :)

    4. OK, I've got it now! Thanks! That must be some really WIDE Scor-Tape! I don't think I've seen any that wide, but I could put two or three strips side by side and then die cut. Thanks! :)
