I have been seeing so many adorable shadow box cards. Some of them are a cute 3-1/4 x 2-3/4. I wanted the flattened card to be closer to A2; it was simple to change up the measurements so the front measures 4x4. This is my card for the swap:
Fun, right? After the pieces were cut I used the Softly Falling Embossing folder. Hills were cut freehand. Added some glitter (sorry Brian) so the hills would stand out a bit. The snowman seemed to be floating when I took the first photograph without the glitter. One of my favorite ways to color is to smoosh a small acrylic block onto an ink pad and use it to watercolor. The new Stampin' Blends would have been so much easier!
Quick template I used: Two 5-1/2 x 4 cardstock pieces scored at 1/4 and 1-1/2. Cut an opening in one of the 4x4 pieces. Adhere the 1/4" segment to the inside of the front panel, and the other 1/4" segment to the rear of the back panel to form the box. Cut your landscaping pieces 4-1/2" scored 1/4" on each end to secure to card. You can adjust measurements to make the card bigger, smaller, deeper or more shallow. This one fits into an A2 card when flattened.
Stamps: Stampin' Up! Seasonal Chums
Dies: Stampin' Up! Seasonal Tags framelits
Ink: Stampin' Up! Crumb Cake, Wild Wasabi, Blushing Bride, Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry

Enjoy the holiday season!
This is quite amazing, Sheryl! Not only did you create beautiful dimension on this shadow box, but you've created great texture and color, too! Bravo!
