I have been playing with making some cards inspired by quilt patterns. I made a modern pineapple patterned card that I will blog soon. Today I played with a new die set, Stitched Triangles.
Mom made quilts, and some of them were incredibly labor-intensive. She cut paper and fabric hexagons, and hand-stitched everything. She would be amazed with the die cutting machines we have now. She probably wouldn't have even blinked if I told her I had to cut 32 little triangles for this card. Piecing everything together was a challenge because the triangle corners are rounded. If you're a quilter you know the points need to match up! I finally attached pairs of triangles to white squares in an attempt to get all of the squares to line up accurately.
I had already photographed the card when I thought maybe I should attach something to the center, it was a bit plain. The center had a little hole (no corners on the triangles). Light bulb moment to add a little heart from my stash. This square notecard is 4-1/4" square.
Love that you stopped by today!
Gorgeous! I’m new to your blog. I really love your clean and simple style (which I know is not “simple”). Thanks for sharing this stunning card!
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by and taking the time to leave a wonderful comment! Most of my cards are either CAS or insanely labor-intensive, lol!
DeleteAbsolute perfection! This card took a lot of time to make, I'm sure, but I can imagine that you created it with a big smile on your face. Love it, Sheryl!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Brian! A quilt pattern came to mind when I saw the triangle dies, and how perfect that they are quilted!
